Bonner and Noone claim The Croke Park/LGFA Player of the Month awards for June and July

DONEGAL star Yvonne Bonner and Galway’s All-Ireland Minor A championship winning captain Lynsey Noone have collected The Croke Park Player of the Month awards for June and July respectively.

Bonner is looking forward to a TG4 All-Ireland semi-final appearance against Cork on August 25, while Noone is still basking in the glory of Galway’s first All-Ireland Minor A success since 2014.

In what was a remarkable season for the Noone family at underage level, Lynsey captained the Galway Minor A side in their final victory over Cork, and claimed the player of the match award, while sister Hannah skippered the U16 A side that won the All-Ireland final against Kerry.

Galway’s All-Ireland Minor A final win also denied Cork four-in-a-row in that grade, as Lynsey produced a powerful display in the Gaelic Grounds decider.

Bonner, meanwhile, displayed some excellent form as Donegal retained the TG4 Ulster Ladies Senior title, before embarking on a successful run in the All-Ireland series to date.

Bonner scored four goals across the course of two matches in the Ulster championship against Monaghan and Armagh, including a hat-trick of goals against the latter opposition in the provincial decider.

In her most recent outing, the TG4 All-Ireland quarter-final clash, which was a rematch with Armagh, Glenfin clubwoman Bonner scored five points as Donegal advanced to a very first semi-final appearance.

Bonner will hope that there’s more silverware to come as Donegal prepare to lock horns with Cork in the first of the TG4 All-Ireland semi-finals on August 25, a game that has a 2.45pm throw-in.

Lynsey and Yvonne were presented with their awards by Alan Smullen, General Manager, The Croke Park.
