TG4 Ladies Football Finals Weekend Audience Viewership

TG4’s comprehensive coverage of this year’s Ladies Football Championships culminated on Sunday with the broadcast of the Junior, Intermediate and Senior Finals live from Croke Park. A total of 476,000 people tuned into TG4’s coverage from 11.40am to 5.40pm. An average of 179,000 viewers watched Dublin retain their All Ireland crown against Cork in the Senior Final, representing a 26.1% share of viewing. The match peaked just before the final buzzer, at 5.21pm, with 283,500 viewers. The game commanded a 23.7% share of Women and a 29.5% share of Men.

On Saturday night on TG4, a one-off special preview programme of Sunday’s finals, live from the Mansion House in Dublin, attracted a total of 128,000 viewers over its two-hour duration. After the end of the Senior Final on Sunday afternoon TG4 showed the documentary ‘Cora – The Greatest’, which followed Ireland’s best known female footballer, Cora Staunton, before and during her stint playing Aussie Rules football with the Sydney Giants. That programme reached 188,000 viewers in total.

Since May 6th TG4 broadcast 20 live matches on TG4, reaching over 850,000 viewers in total. Matches were also broadcast live on Facebook, YouTube and the TG4 Player and were available to viewers worldwide.

TG4 Head of Sport Rónán Ó Coisdealbha congratulated the Ladies Gaelic Football Association for the magnificent work being done to improve the popularity of Ladies Gaelic Football and for having 50,141 spectators in Croke Park on Sunday. He said: “As sponsor and TV broadcast rights holder, we would are very proud of what our partnership with the LGFA has achieved and I would like to congratulate the LGFA for a great season culminating in Sunday’s record attendance of 50,141 spectators at Croke Park.”
