AIB Senior Connaught Club Championship semi-final preview

AIB Senior Connaught Club
Championship semi-final Sunday 19th Oct:

Corofin (Galway) (h) v Padraig Pearses Roscommon Corofin
3.00pm

Padraig Pearses were formed in 1985 and have amassed
a total of 14 Roscommon Championships titles in that
period of time. In 1999 and 2002 national success was
achieved when they won the All Ireland Senior sevens
and won the senior sevens shield in 2000. Up to eight
players were part of the victorious Roscommon team who
won the All Ireland Junior title in 2001.

A word of commiseration goes to Aoife Dolphin the goalkeeper
who broke her hand in training in the past week. The
first ever Ladies football game was played in Corofin
as part of a community event back in the early seventies
and developed with the association. A decline set in
but in the mid 90’s the club was reformed and has enjoyed
good success. Having won the first ever-County senior
Championship title in Galway, two Connaught senior League
titles and two weeks ago the All Ireland senior sevens
title.

This promises to be a very close encounter and great
quality football should be on display. For all the matches
on display this coming weekend if possible give them
all your support.
