There was only one match played in the senior league, with
Bray Emmets defeating Valleymount by 3-5 to 1-4. The match
was played in appalling conditions on Sunday and it was a
credit to both sides that they managed to produce an entertaining
game. Bray played with a strong wind in the first half and
led 3-4 to no score at the break. Valleymount then came right
back into the game after the turnaround and scored 1-4 to
Bray’s single second half point. They owned the ball for much
of the half with Janet Miley and Debbie Green in good form
but just could not force enough scores. The highlight of the
game was Elaine Casey’s sweetly taken goal, lobbing Bray keeper
Christine Murphy from thirty yards. Scorers for Bray were
Áine O’Gorman 2-0, Sinéad Boland 1-1, Val Hughes 0-3 and Mikaela
Shelley 0-1, while for Valleymount Elaine Casey scored 1-3
and Lizzie Brophy 0-1.
