Bord Gáis Energy NFL - Playoff Regulations

As the round stages of the Bord Gáis Energy National Football League are coming to a close this weekend,  teams around the country will be putting in their last big performances to try and ensure that they either avoid relegation or even better – earn themselves a spot in a semi final.

As managers and players around the Country are doing the maths to see what they need to do this weekend, please keep the following regulations in mind, as outlined in the Bord Gáis Energy National League Guide Book 2012.

In terms of relegation and promotion it is one up and one down in each division.

If there is a draw the following applies:

1. Where two teams only are level the placing will be determined as follows and in the order specified.

a) The outcome of the game played between the two teams in the previous game in the competition will be used to decide placings

b) should the previous game be a draw, the team with the highest number of points scored in that specific game will determine the placing

c) if teams are still level a playoff match will be played.

2. Where 3 teams are level the placing will be determined as follows:

a) 3 teams go into a hat, first out will get a bye and the other two teams will compete in a playoff game.

b) where 3 teams are level for 4th place, Two teams are drawn to play each other from the hat with the winner playing the remaining team to secure the 4th place.

For the semi finals 1 plays 4 and 2 plays 3 at neutral venues.

Best of Luck in Round 7!!
