The Kerry ladies team commence their campaign to retain their Munster Championship title with a tough away fixture to Cork on Sat June 28th. Cork already started their 2014 campaign blitzing Clare in a 7 goal strike, showing intent on winning back their crown. Kerry had a good league campaign, reaching the semi finals of Division 1 after a few years in Division 2 & team manager William O’Sullivan believes playing teams of the calibre of Monaghan, Cork & Dublin will stand to them in the championship. The return of both Aisling Leonard & Lorraine Scanlon to the panel as they were both away last year for championship has added to an already strong panel. The game takes place in Pairc Ui Rinn at 2.30 & the team then face Clare on Wednesday July 2nd in Kilmihill, time TBC. The Munster Final is confirmed for Rathmore on 12th July.

Congratulations to Laune Rangers B who won the Educate.ie U14 Div 4 title on Sunday, defeating Ballymacelligott. It was a fantastic achievement for Ballmacelligott getting to the final, as they are only established with a few years so great credit to the club. Ballymac started brightly & got the first few scores but once Laune Rangers got to grips with the game they powered ahead & with goals coming from Etaine o Meara, Cadhla Piggott & Allanah O Sullivan they had a good foundation laid for the second half. Half time score Laune Rangers B 3-01 Ballymacelligott 0-03. But Ballymacelligott regrouped strongly & with goals from young Cora Savage, Aine Rice & 2 from Mary Healy it was really a game of two halves. But Laune Rangers held on & with another goal from Cadhla Piggott & goal from Nicole Moriarty they secured the win. Fierce credit to Ballymacelligott to come back like they did but Laune Rangers B defended strongly. Joint Captains Leah Costello & Lucy O’Donnell accepted the title from Ladies Secretary Mary Courtney on behalf of sponsors Educate.ie. Final score Laune Rangers B 5-07 Ballymacelligott 4-06.
