Dublin lady footballers take time out to celebrate!

Thursday night witnessed the proud celebrations in Dublin of its 8 All Star nominees and the 10th anniversary of its partnership with principle sponsor, the Cuckoos Nest Tallaght.

“Following last years amazing achievements at both club and county in all levels of competition, with the juniors making it to the Suzuki National league semi final last month, with the U14 & U16s being re-crowned Leinster champions last Saturday (15.05.2004), with Championship action for the junior and senior teams only a week away and with 188 club teams competing every week, it is truly an exciting and proud time to be involved in ladies football in Dublin,” says Development Officer Fionnuala Sexton.

On Thursday night last Dublin took a timeout from the fast lane of action to recognise the achievements of some of the people who make such a contribution to the organisation. Pride of place went to our 8 nominees, 6 of whom were selected to represent the county in the recent all star tour to New York where they played an exhibition match before the Mayo Vs New York men’s championship game in Gaelic Park.

The massive growth and success of our teams generates a huge financial burden and without sponsors like the Cuckoos Nest and O’Neill’s we would not be able to support the competitive program for the county or maintain the high standard of county training and preparation that is required in today’s game. It is therefore vital that we recognise the contribution these sponsors truly make to the overall success of the organization.
