Dubs Legend O'Leary Takes Over Louth Ladies

It’s all go for the Louth ladies team this year. Dermot Woods is back as Co Board chairman, while in another serious statement of intent, 1995 All-Ireland-winning captain, John O’Leary, has been appointed joint team manager with Fergal McNally, and has already conducted training sessions.

John O’Leary is a legendary figure in Dublin GAA circles as he captained Dublin to the 1995 Sam McGuire win after a career spanning over 18 years. John has a keen interest in Ladies Football having previously managed the Dublin Ladies in the early 2000’s. Following his time as manager of the Wicklow mens side O’Leary has now moved into the hotseat in Louth who were the 2015 TG4 Junior All Ireland Champions. O’Leary’s first competitve game with Louth will come in Division 4 of the Lidl NFL when his side open their campaign away to Carlow.

Probably not since the late ’90s into the early part of this century will there be so much attention focused on the ladies’ team.
