Gaelic4Mothers and Others Blitz is great success

Gaelic4Mothers and Others is a huge success

This year’s Gaelic4Mothers & Others National Blitz took place at Naomh Mearnóg GAA Club on Saturday last, October 20th. The event proved to be another great success with nearly 1,000 participants taking part in a day of fun and football. Participants travelled from every corner of the country to showcase their skills in this non-competitive display.

One of the day’s highlights came early in proceedings as all participants took part in a mass warm up. The LGFA coaches put all of the players through their paces before a football was thrown in. This was a fantastic spectacle that set the tone for a great day that was enjoyed by all involved.

Players of all levels of ability and experience were then able to enjoy playing football with their clubs while making new friends with opposition players with the emphasis on fun instead of competition. This was the fourth year of the Gaelic4Mothers & Others Blitz day which has continued to go from strength to strength.

Speaking about the event National Development Manager, Paula Prunty, said ‘The Gaelic4Mothers & Others’ National blitz day is one of the highlights of the Ladies Gaelic Football Season. It happens shortly after the All Ireland Finals and really highlights the other side of Ladies Gaelic Football as the players just come to enjoy themselves and meet new people without the pressure of winning cups or even matches. This is a unique event in Irish sport as all competitors are here to enjoy a social occasion as well as playing football. It is a measure of the success of the day that we have so many clubs that continue to return year after year.’
