Galway and Waterford Are Under 16 All Ireland Champs

Nenagh and Callan played host to the Under 16 A and B finals last night where the large crowds that attended were treated to two fantastic and competitive football matches.

In Nenagh it was Galway that lead from the first minute until the last as they kept Cork at arms reach throughout thanks to goals from Player of the Match; Aoife Lynagh and a pair of goals from Ailish Morrissey. Cork did their best to get back into the match thanks to late goals from Aoife Twomey and Katie Quirke but they ran out of time as the Tribes added the Under 16 A All Ireland title to the Under 16 B All Ireland title that they had already won earlier this Summer.

In Callan it was Kildare that got off to the better start as they led by 6 points to 1 after 25 minutes of the first half but  a goal for Waterford late in the half brought them back into the match and Kildare led by a single point at half time. That Waterford goal was to prove vital as scores were hard to come by in the second half but a return of 6 points in the second half was enough for the Déise to deny Kildare and claim the Under 16 B All Ireland title.
