All-Ireland club finals prove big hit with TG4 viewers

The 2017 All-Ireland ladies club football finals proved a big hit with viewers of TG4 and on the Spórt TG4 YouTube channel last weekend.

The senior decider at Parnell Park between newly-crowned champions Carnacon (Mayo) and Cork outfit Mourneabbey was watched by an average of 76,000 viewers.

The broadcast reached 218,000 people and took a 9.5% share of viewing, making it the highest-rating programme aired on TG4 last week.

History was made on Sunday when an All-Ireland ladies club football decider was streamed online for the very first time.

And it has been revealed that the clash between winners Dunboyne of Meath and Cork opponents Kinsale generated 4,222 views on the Spórt TG4 YouTube channel.

This is the second highest number of YouTube streams for a Ladies Football fixture this year, second only behind the TG4 Ulster final between Donegal and Monaghan in July (4,340).

The figure of 76,000 average viewers for the senior final is equal to the average of the 20 men’s club games that TG4 have shown since the beginning of October, the station has indicated.
