MoyvaneU12Div5Capt

Congratulations to Moyvane who won the Glebe Kitchens U12 Division 5 title last Monday 11th August defeating Spa in a very exciting game. Moyvane took early control of the game but Spa made them work very hard for every score they got. Moyvane pulled well ahead in the early stages of the second half but Spa fought back bravely. But in the end, Moyvane held out. Mary Courtney of Glebe Kitchens was on hand to present the title to a proud Moyvane captain Gillian Musgrave & she  also offered great praise to Spa, in what was a second final in a week for many of the players. All that remains now in the Glebe Kitchens U12 Co. League are the Div 3 & 4 ties, which will be played very soon.

On Saturday in Fossa over 80 girls attended the last day of the U12 Development Squad programme. The programme of the events for the day included friendlies between all 4 regions, refreshments & then fun activities & team bonding games. William O’Sullivan Senior manager & senior players Aislinn Desmond, Caroline Kelly & Edel Murphy were on hand to give the girls words of encouragement. We also had the Munster & All Ireland U14 titles on display. We would like to thank the following clubs for use of facilities the past number of weeks: Laune Rangers GAA for use of Cloon, St Mary’s GAA Caherciveen, Cromane GAA, Castleisland Desmonds, St Senans Mountcoal, Scartaglin GAA, Currow GAA, Legion GAA , Ballycasheen N.S Killarney, Kenmare GAA., Mounthawk School, Abbeydorney GAA, John Mitchels GAA & Na Gaeil GAA. Many thanks to Fossa GAA for use of facilities on Saturday. Also many thanks to all the coaches who gave their time freely.

Kerry ladies senior team face Dublin on Saturday 23rd August in the TG4 All Ireland Quarter Final. The game which will be televised on TG4 takes place in St Brendans Park Birr at 12.30 Dublin under new management had a very strong league campaign, comprehensively defeating an under strength Kerry in the early rounds, loosing to Cork in the league final. They also had a very good campaign in Leinster, remaining undefeated to become champions. Dublin have a very good panel & with strong performances underage in Minor & U21 especially they have a strong bench to call upon. Dublin will be depending on Siobhan McGrath & Sinead Goldrick to anchor their defense while up front Lyndsey Davey & Noelle Healy have been their score getters.  The tough game against Donegal will stand to Kerry.  Will be one of the most tightest & competitive of all the quarter finals, but tipping Kerry of course to shade it.

Kerry Ladies Football board offer our condolences to the family of Donal Curtin, Knocknagoshel. Donal was a former Chairperson of Kerry Ladies Football & was also a selector for the Kerry Junior Ladies intercounty team. He was also very active within his club Castleisland Desmond Ladies. Donal was a great leader & will be a massive loss to ladies football. Our deepest sympathies to his wife Shelia, daughter Mariah and son Darragh. Donal was laid to rest on Sunday 17th August in Knocknagoshel. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
