Leinster U14 Championship Round 1 Kildare v Dublin

By Damien Aulsberry

From the throw in Dublin won the ball and skilfully weaved their way downfield finishing off the move with a shot that hit the upright and bounced back into the grateful hands of the Dublin full forward who dispatched a powerful shot into the back of the net. This move summed up the conviction of a really skilful and powerful Dublin team who came to St. Laurences with only winning in mind. The Kildare girls tried hard but on the day were no match for the slick passing and movement from the Dubs. The match slipped out of the Kildare girls hands from the very start and the opposition were intent on putting as many scores on the board as they could. A point in from Rachel Reidy was the only consolation in a first half in which Dublin ran the show. Kildare faired much the same in the second half with a well taken goal from Niamh Dunne being the highlight. Kildare must regroup and focus on getting another crack at the Dubs by beating Laois in a couple of weeks and Wexford two weeks later. Best for Kildare were Rachel Reidy, Molly Price, Niamh Mulhall, Caoimhe Jameson and Niamh Dunne
