TG4 Ladies Football All-Star Awards 2013

The 2014 TG4 Player’s Player of the Year award nominees have today been announced. The nominations are made up of three players from each grade; Junior, Intermediate and Senior with the overall winners set to be announced at the 2014 TG4 All Star Awards at the Citywest Hotel on Saturday, November 8th.

The senior Player’s Player of the nominees are Galway captain, Sinead Burke, Cork’s fullback and dual All Ireland winner Angela Walsh and Armagh’s Ulster Championship winning captain, Caroline O’Hanlon. This will be the first time that any of the player’s will have won the senior award that was picked up by Geraldine O’Flynn in 2013 but Caroline O’Hanlon has been a previous recipient of the Intermediate Player’s Player of the Year award in 2012.

Down have two nominees for the Intermediate Player’s Player of the Year. Kyla Trainor had a magnificent year which was rounded off with player of the match in the TG4 All Ireland Final following a match winning substitutes appearance. Aileen Pyres is the other Down representative after leading the way on the score board throughout the year for the newly crowned Intermediate champions. The third nominee comes from the beaten All Ireland Finalists, Fermanagh for whom Caroline Little has been a star player at midfield, Caroline was also nominated for the same award in 2013.

New York captain, Linda McKeon, rounds off a year to remember with her nomination for the Junior Player’s Player of the Year award after producing several fantastic midfield displays throughout the year. The other two nominees come from TG4 All Ireland Junior Champions, Wexford. Clara Donnelly was the captain and played a huge role at midfield as Wexford claimed the junior crown. Mary Rose Kelly was an inspiration for Wexford as she produced one of the great goalkeeping diplays against New York in Croke Park to propel her county to All Ireland glory.

The Player’s Player of the Year nominees are selected by players from within their own grade with the senior players voting for the senior nominees, the intermediate for intermediate nominees and the juniors voting for the junior nominees. Players are not allowed to vote for a player from their own county.
