AGB Honoured with Civic Reception

AGB Senior Ladies and u/14 girl’s football teams entered their names in the distinguished visitor’s book of the Arklow Town Council at a Civic reception held to honour their achievements.

The girls were guests of honour at a civic reception which was hosted by the A.U.D.C on Wednesday 19th November. The ladies senior team captain, Catriona Byrne and u14 captain Aife Kavanagh were presented with commemorative crystal vases from the Lord Mayor Nicky Kelly.

The senior ladies who won the county championship were praised highly by all for their dedication and hard work to have reached such a high level. Catriona Byrne thanked all their mentors, supporters and fellow players. The u/14 girls were congratulated on their achievements which included winning the Leinster Division 1 Feile, All Ireland Feile Division 3 and All Ireland Seven-a-side. Aife Kavanagh delivered a modest speech in which she also thanked the mentors and fellow players. Amongst the group present were the 35 girls that represented the club in New York and lived up to their reputation by winning the u14 and u17 titles respectively.

Signing the Book is the highest honour that can be bestowed on any citizen and this was a fitting end to a great year of football for the girls of the Arklow Geraldines Ballymoney Club.
