All 3 Championship Finals to be held in Croke Park

Cumann Peil Gael na mBan have announced that all
three Championship finals, Senior, Intermediate and Junior, will
take place in Croke Park on the 23rd September. The Ladies Football
Finals Day will host three games at GAA headquarters for the first
time ever with the Junior final getting proceeding under way at
12.00noon. The Intermediate final will throw-in at 2.00pm while
the showpiece Senior final gets under way at 4.00pm.All three
games will be televised live on TG4.

While Cork have already booked their place in the senior final,
Mayo and Tyrone will slug it out this Saturday for the opportunity
to deny the Rebelettes a third consecutive title. The two teams
will meet in Kingspan Breffni Park in a doubleheader that also
includes the Intermediate semi-final between Clare and Leitrim.
Mayo, the newly crowned National League champions, are the strong
favourites entering the game as they are the only team to have
beaten Cork in the past three years.

However, Tyrone dumped last year’s beaten finalists Armagh out
of the competition and this game will pit two of the championships
top scorers against one another. Mayo’s Cora Staunton leads the
Championship scoring charts with 2-36 from four games while Tyrone’s
Gemma Begley has recorded 6-13 in her four championship outings
this year.

The finalists of the Junior Championship will also be decided
this weekend with Kilkenny taking on Derry and London facing Carlow.
Both of these games will take place in Lawless Park in Swords
on Saturday.
