BORD GÁIS ENERGY LADIES NFL PREVIEWS
Division 1a:

Armagh v Kerry
Killeavey, 1.00pm (S. McIntyre)

Last year’s beaten finalists Kerry face a tough away assignment in their opening fixture of the 2009 campaign. Armagh’s star may have waned in recent years but the Orchard County will be targeting this game as a must win if they are to be challenging for top seeding in Division 1a.

Laois v Donegal
Mountmellick, 2.00pm, (T. Clarke)

Laois limped out of last year’s Championship and only recorded one win in the league last season. But Laois will be buoyed by the club success of Sarsfields while Donegal, who were promoted from Division 2 last year, will probably suffer at this level early on before finding their feet.

Tyrone v Mayo
Strabane, 2.00pm, (B. Henry)

This replay of the 2007 All Ireland semi-final is the pick of the games from Division 1a. Tyrone have been knocking on the door for a number of years now and have one of the game’s top forwards in Gemma Begley. Mayo on the other hand have seen and done it all before but are over reliant on the boot of Cora Staunton.

Division 1b:

Cork v Kildare
Cork I.T. 2.00pm, (K. Delahunty)

The best time to catch Cork off their game is early on before they shake off the cobwebs of the close season. But Kildare are undergoing a rebuilding process and will be glad to escape Cork relatively unscathed so the Rebelettes should secure the win without too much of a scare.

Monaghan v Dublin
Inniskeen, 2.00pm (E. O’Hare)

Last year’s beaten All Ireland finalists Monaghan will be targeting a strong league showing after their Championship success last term. Dublin were unbeaten in the league last year but one too many draws prevented them from advancing to the knock-out stages. If Dublin can nullify the threat of Ciara McAnespie they could have a chance of causing an upset.

Galway v Clare
Killanin, 2.00pm, (D. Corcoran)

Galway have been there or there abouts over the last number of years without picking up any silverware. Clare on the other hand won the Division 2 title last year and narrowly lost out in the Intermediate Championship final. Clare are on the rise while Galway seem to be stuck in second gear. The new girls on the block are likely to run the Tribeswomen very close and could sneak a win.
