ACE forward Sinead Ahern scored 0-5 as Dublin maintained their 100 per cent start to the Bord Gáis Energy Ladies National Football League Division 1 campaign on Sunday.

The Sky Blues made it two wins from two outings with a hard-fought 0-10 to 0-7 victory against Meath in Ashbourne.

And it was Ahern who led the charge for the Jackies in what was a repeat of last year’s Division 2 final between the two counties.

Meath shocked Dublin in the 2011 Leinster semi-final and despite losing by three points in this latest clash, they will take heart from a dogged display having lost heavily to Dublin in both Division 2 clashes last year.

Midway through the first half, the sides were level at 0-2 apiece before Dublin went on to lead by just a single point at half-time, 0-5 to 0-4.

In front of a sizeable crowd, Dublin kept Meath at arm’s length in the second half as two superb points from Siobhan Woods opened up a 0-8 to 0-5 advantage.

Meath kept plugging away but Dublin held on against the Royal County, who had a six-point haul from Katie O’Brien.

Elsewhere in Division 1, holders Cork also registered a second successive win as the Leesiders defeated Monaghan by 3-11 to 1-13 in what was a repeat of last September’s All-Ireland senior final.

Rhona Ní Bhuachalla (two) and Nollaig Cleary scored Cork’s goals in the second half, after the Rebelettes had trailed by 0-10 to 1-8 at half-time.

Caoimhe Mohan netted for the visitors in the first half and Cork survived some early scares in the second half as Monaghan hit the woodwork while goalkeeper Elaine Harte and Deirdre O’Reilly performed heroics too to keep out the Farney County.

In Division 2, Cora Staunton was among the goals again for Mayo as the Westerners made it two wins from two.

Staunton and her Carnacon teammate Fiona McHale raised green flags as Mayo defeated Clare by 2-11 to 0-9 to follow up last Sunday’s victory against Connacht rivals Galway with another impressive win.

But Kerry are at the head of affairs following another high-scoring victory, this time on a 3-23 to 4-7 scoreline against Fermanagh.

The Kingdom have now registered 8-37 in two matches, after the Munster outfit hit 5-14 against Tipperary on the opening day.

In Division 3, there were victories for Armagh, Down, Leitrim and last year’s All-Ireland intermediate champions Westmeath.

In Division 4, Longford came away with maximum points from their visit to Antrim while Limerick edged out Louth by a single point.
