Boston Shamrocks claimed the North American title after a hard fought victory against St. Mike’s Toronto. Shamrocks tool their place in the finals after claiming their first Boston title since 2010.

Shamrocks joined Chicago, Pittsburgh and Canada in the group stage and succeeded in reaching the knock outs. Pittsburgh were the opposition in the semi final but Shamrocks showed their class running out 6 point winners. On the other side of the draw were Saint Mike’s from Toronto.

The game threw in at 10:40 and it really proved to be a classic game of two halves with Shamrocks bossing the first half leading by 10 points at the interval. In the second half it was all St. Mikes who produced a brilliant comeback to send the match to extra time.

The Boston club rediscovered their form though and had 2 points to spare at the end but had their captain, Anne Marie McDonnell and goalkeeper for combining to make a vital save on the goal line in the dying seconds.

McDonnell, originally from The Neale in Mayo, lifted the North American Junior title for the first time since 1993.
