Cork Ladies AGM report

As Mick Bohan steps down from the helm as Dublin Senior Ladies Team Manager, the Dublin County Board of Ladies Football acknowledges the enormous contribution Mick has made to ensure Dublin’s recent successes, securing two consecutive Leinster titles which culminated in Dublin’s appearance in their first TG4 All-Ireland Senior Championship Final in Croke Park in 2003.

Everyone involved in Ladies Football both in the Capital and throughout the country realises the phenomenal time and energy Mick has devoted to the development and success of the Dublin Senior Team. The progress of the Dublin Team under Mick Bohan is testimony to his extraordinary personal zeal and charisma. The Dublin County Board is deeply indebted to Mick for his enormous commitment, dedication and self-sacrifice throughout the past two years.

In light of the huge commitment involved in managing a team at the top level of the sport, the Dublin County Board fully respects Mick’s decision not to remain on as Manager. All associated with the development of Ladies Football in Dublin fully respect Mick’s decision as he, exhausted by his superhuman efforts, recognises he must curtail his many involvements in the development of Gaelic Games. In this regard, the Board owes Mick and his support team a huge debt of gratitude. John Hillery (Chairperson) accepted that Mick had given everything for the welfare of the team and the Dublin County Board would not ask for more, other than respect his personal wishes.

On Wednesday night, following a Civic Reception hosted by the Mayor and Members of South Dublin County Council, to honour the achievements of the Dublin Ladies Team, the Dublin County Board Chairman, John Hillery personally conveyed the sincere appreciation of the Executive and Board of Dublin Ladies football to Mick Bohan. At an informal gathering following the Civic Reception the players had an opportunity to personally thank Mick for his steadfast and unwavering dedication to the team. In particular, the players fully respect Mick’s decision as he curtails his workload.

Mick’s departure obviously creates a managerial vacancy which the Board will be addressing as Dublin face into the Suzuki National League campaign which is due to commence in February 2004. Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons, capable of undertaking this managerial position. The successful candidate must possess the managerial qualities required to manage a Senior Inter County Team and have a working knowledge or background of Ladies Gaelic football.
