Cork take on Kerry in defence of crown

Cork take on Kerry in defence of crown.

At 1pm on Saturday Cork the Munster and All-Ireland champions take on Kerry in the Munster under 16 final at Macroom in defence of their Munster and All-Ireland crowns. Cork will include most of the panel that brought All-Ireland success under 14, 2 years ago and will start firm favourites against Kerry. Both teams have played just one game each in the championship to date. Cork had a comprehensive victory over Limerick in their semi-final while Kerry had an equally impressive win over Waterford. Kerry of late provide Cork with the toughest under age competition and on Saturday they will not be without hope.

Cork has a very solid look about them and include 3 of the current Cork senior panel. Rena Buckley at Centre back and Laura Power and Geraldine O’Flynn at Midfield. Of course their star forward is Amanda Murphy from Beara. Amanda has 3 All-Ireland medals under 14 and under 16 All-Ireland medal and is still under 14 this year and she could cause havoc for the Kerry defence. But she is by no means a one person attack, Noreen O’Farrell and Margaret Murphy are well capable of taking scores as well.

Cork have a new management team this year with Con O’Sullivan, Jim McEvoy and Don O’Shea. They get a confident vote to take their 3rd Munster title in a row.
