County officer training seminar held in Connacht

 

County officer training seminar held in Connacht Last Saturday,
February 17th, Connacht held an officer training seminar in the
White House Hotel, Ballinlough for all Ladies Gaelic Football
county board officials in the province aimed at increasing the
understanding of each individual role within the county board.
The seminar was attended by representatives from all 5 counties.
Mary Shanley, Connacht Council vice chairperson, opened the seminar
by welcoming all present especially those who had travelled from
outside the province to give presentations throughout the evening.

The speakers included Joe Condon from Kerry who spoke on the area
of discipline and the role of the disciplinary committee within
the county board. Paula Prunty, National Games Development Officer
for the Ladies Gaelic Football Association, described the importance
of the injury fund for players and mentors and also methods of
fundraising within the county.

Delegates at the County Officer Training
Seminar

The setting up and importance of the fixtures committee within
each county board was presented by Mary Beades, Connacht Games
Development Officer. The attendance was then split up according
to the position held by each individual within their respective
county boards. George Young, who travelled from Waterford, conducted
a workshop for all those responsible for financial matters and
Mary Keegan the Ulster Ladies Gaelic Football administrator and
Paula Prunty spoke to all Chairpersons and secretaries on their
role within the county board.

Alan Gunn a member of the national PRO committee travelled from
Monaghan to address all PROs present on the importance of regular
reporting of Ladies Gaelic Football while Mary Beades, discussed
the area of development and increased participation of Ladies
Gaelic football. The seminar and workshops were very successful,
sparking some interesting debate and discussion.
