Downey Steps Aside as Galway Manager

Galway v Tyrone - TG4 All-Ireland Ladies Football Senior Championship Quarter-Final

Galway senior ladies football manager, Barry Downey, has stepped aside from his position with immediate affect. Mr. Downey has been forced to take the decision for personal reasons. The existing management team of former Mayo manager, Kevin Reidy, Dave Mulally and Martina Cummins will take over the training and preparation of the panel with a meeting of the Galway County Board set to take place on Thursday evening at which the matter will be discussed.

Speaking on behalf of the county board Mary Hernon (Galway County Secretary) said ‘We have enjoyed working with Barry since he took up the role of manager in 2013. Barry has brought great success to the county as he secured a Connacht title and achieved promotion to Division 1 of the TESCO Homegrown National Football League. The Galway County Board would like to wish Barry the very best of luck in the future and thank him for the job that he did as the Galway manager.’
