Dublin Appoint McGonigle

Galway v Monaghan - TG4 All-Ireland Ladies Football Senior Championship Semi-Final

The search to find a replacement to Paul Gilheaney finally came to a welcome conclusion last night with the ratification of Gregory McGonigle as the new Dublin Ladies senior manager.

Former Monaghan boss, McGonigle has been handed a two year term of office by Dublin County Board officials in an attempt to bring much desired continuity to the Dublin senior set up.

The new Dublin boss is currently in the process of finalising his management team, details of McGonigle’s back room personnel will be issued to club delegates in advance of the January County Board meeting which is scheduled to take place on the 14th of January next.

Joe Keane (Chairperson, Dublin LGFA) stated “Gregory has successfully come through our interview process with our interview panel having no hesitation in recommending him for the role of Dublin senior manager.  I am confident that Gregory with his knowledge and experience of Senior County football, combined with his enthusiasm, drive and desire to be the best will ensure that Dublin will be challenging for national titles in the not too distant future”.

Ironically, McGonigle’s first competitive game in charge of the Sky Blues will see the former Farney boss pitted against his old chargers Monaghan, as Dublin are fixed to play the All- Ireland runners up in the opening round of the Tesco Home Grown NFL on February 2nd.
