Dublin A’s secured their first league points today with a comprehensive victory over Donegal. The winning of this game came within the first twenty minutes when Dublin forwards, Niamh Hurley (Man-o-War), Mary Nevin (Na Fianna) and Karen Hopkins (Ballyboden St. Endas) each finding the back of the Donegal net. Nevin and Hopkins added further points for Dublin with Donegal’s points coming from Catherine McAnteer, Francis Hoy and M. Sweeney. With a nine point lead at half time the Dublin management introduced a number of substitutes but the bulk of the Dublin scores came once more from the in form Nevin and Hopkins. Elaine Kelly (St Brigids) and Sarah Denvir (Ballyboden St Endas) also impressed for Dublin.

Dublin play Waterford next Sunday at 2.30pm in Kilmacud Crokes, Waterford will be confident travelling to the capital following their league win over Meath today.

B-TEAM WIN AGAIN!

For the second week in a row the Dublin B team came from behind to clinch victory and once more it was by the narrowest of margins. The Dub’s were very slow to settle in the first half of this league tie and found them selves four points behind Westmeath at the interval but on the restart Dublin took the game to Westmeath, and with vital scores coming from Lizzie Hughes (Man-O-War) and Elena Griffin (Lucan Sarsfields) Dublin snatched the game and the league points from Westmeath. It was a close and enjoyable encounter with both teams providing entertaining football.

Dublin now awaits the result from the last two league fixtures between Fermanagh and Monaghan (02.03.02) and Derry and Monaghan (16.03.02) before their league position is confirmed. Dublin currently lies in second place two points behind group leaders Derry and a place in the quarterfinals 99% guaranteed!
