Gaelic4Girls Training Completed in Britain

 

The final Gaelic4Girls training took place this weekend in Britain with workshops in Manchester for Lancashire Clubs and Coventry for clubs in Warwickshire. Once again, all participants that attended the training showed great enthusiasm and left motivated and looking forward to getting Gaelic4Girls up and running in the next few weeks. 17 clubs will now be participating in the Gaelic4Girls Programme across Britain in the coming weeks which is very encouraging for the first year of the programme.

Oisins (Manchester), St Lawrence’s (Manchester) and John Mitchells (Liverpool) attended on Saturday with the format of the training being the same as the previous weekend with the initial section of the training focusing on how the programme will be coordinated including promotion and organisation while the latter section of the training saw participants taking part in some of the many fun gaelic games activities that they will be coaching during their own programmes in the club.

The same training took place in Coventry on the Sunday with enthusiastic members from Sean McDermotts (Birmingham), John Mitchells (Birmingham), St. Barnabas (Nottingham), Roger Casements (Coventry) and St Finbarrs (Coventry) in attendance.

The addition of the Gaelic4Girls Programme in Britain will assist existing clubs to strengthen their underage structures and also provide a starting point for clubs setting up new underage sections in their clubs. The ethos for Gaelic4Girls ensures that fun and enjoyment is the key focus for all girls and all clubs involved look forward to welcoming new players into their clubs. The programmes will start in Britain the week of 10^th to 17^th May and will culminate with all clubs being invited to participate in the All Britain Games in July.

In addition to the Gaelic4Girls training, the afternoon of both days were once again action packed as officers of the clubs in both counties were provided with Club Officer training which included discussion on their roles, the injury fund, registrations, transfers and much more . The participants found the workshops very informative and the topics covered will assist them to carry out their roles in a more effective manner in the coming year.

Overall the two weekends have been a huge success throughout Britain and development of the game certainly is the forefront for the many clubs involved. The next few weeks will be exciting times for these clubs and we look forward to continuing to work closely with everyone involved.
