Galway and Monaghan set for Classic

Galway are hoping to return to the TG4 Senior All Ireland Final for the first time since 2005. They were extremely impressive in their Connacht final victory over Mayo and improved again to comprehensively defeat Tyrone in the Quarter Final. They will again look to their dangerous half back trio of Rebecca McPhilbin and Sinead Burke with Emer Flaherty anchoring from the centre. Last time out Annette Clarke and Geraldine Conneally were excellent for the Tribeswomen but they will have a real battle on their hands against an equally strong Monaghan duo. Galway will again look to Edel Concannon to continue her great record from frees whilst Roisín Leonard has the potential to be a big threat alongside the experienced Lorna Joyce.

Galway have made one change to their starting 15 from their win over Tyrone. Caitriona Cormican comes into the team at Left Half Forward with Barbara Hannon moving back to corner back, Orla Dixon is the player that makes way.

Monaghan are keeping the faith with the same team that started the Quarter Final demolition of Laois. Monaghan boast possibly the best full back line in the game with the All Star trio of Gráinne McNally, Sharon Courtney and Christina Reilly. The midfield battle between the two teams will go a long way to deciding the victors in this match with Eileen McKenna and Amanda Casey facing Conneally and Clarke. All 6 forwards for Monaghan got on the scoresheet last time out with potential match winners in all 6 positions. Caoimhe Mohan, Cora Courtney and Cathriona McConnell will hope to benefit again from the hard work of McNally, Kindlon and McAnespie.

This will be an intriguing battle between the two sides with a place in the 40th All Ireland Final at stake!
