Kilglass Gaels Gaelic4Girls Enjoy Croker!

Kilglass Gaels

Thanks to Michael McHugh for this report and the kind words it contains:

Kilglass Gaels U-12 girls were one of the lucky clubs to participate in the 2014 Gaelic4Girls(G4G) programme. This is a 12 week programme organised by Croke Park and Provincial Councils. The programme incorporates coaching sessions with fun non-competitive blitzes aimed at increasing participation in ladies football. The programme targets girls aged between 8-12 years.

The coaching started for those girls on Monday 24th March and continued each Monday thereafter. They took part in the first blitz when we welcomed Kiltubrid to sunny Kilglass on Saturday 20th April as part of the field of dream official opening.

The highlight of the programme came on Monday 30th June when the girls got their opportunity to show off the skills in Croke Park where every girl from the club took part in four mini games.

Each child who took part in the programme received a specific G4G T- shirt and a certificate of completion; those were presented at a special presentation evening in the clubhouse where members of the Roscommon senior ladies team were in attendance!

The ladies club would like to thank all the coaches for their time and dedication to the girls, also to their parents/guardians.

A special word of thanks to Noelle Gormley Connacht Development Officer for all her help over the 12 weeks, and not forgetting local Auctioneer Tom Cox of Thomas J Cox Auctioneers for his kind sponsorship of a new set of jerseys.
