Ladies Gaelic Football spreads to Italy

Ladies Gaelic Football is quickly becoming a global sport with thriving clubs playing right accross the globe. The growth of the game continues at a steady pace as Italy recently hosted their first Ladies Gaelic Football Match.

On the 8th December 2012 there was the first ladies gaelic football match in Italy. The St. Lorenzo ladies team played against the Rome ladies in the city of Padova on a frozen pitch. The final result was St. Lorenzo 1-2 Rome1-0. Chiara Sandonà, the captain of the St. Lorenzo team said that ‘It has been a fantastic experience…we start a new page in the history of the ladies gaelic football in Italy. We fought until the last second of the match and I can’t describe all the emotions we all felt. From the start, both teams played with passion, heart and pride. This is just the first step…and my dream would be to keep playing games with my team’.
