Longford Ladies V Fermanagh

Longford Ladies V Fermanagh Ladies on Sunday 1st March

The phrase relegation dog fight comes to mind when thinking of this game with both sides having played Cavan and Meath and lost. The winner of this game will surely have the upper hand in the battle to avoid relegation.

The two sides have met four times in the last two years, once in the league, last season and three times in the Intermediate Championship with the Honours even but Longford with the advantage in the last two meetings.

Fermanagh has been fielding a very youthful side in the league as the management attempts to rebuild the side after a number or retirements from inter-county football in the off season and girls missing through educational commitments. The players that have come in have given a good account of themselves so far and the management hopes that these players will keep improving through the latter stages of the league, building towards the Championship.

It will be hard to separate these two sides on Sunday, but Longford must be viewed as slight favorites with home advantage and a more settled team lineout. Whoever comes out on top will have earned their victory and more than likely the right to remain in Division 2 for next season.

Throw in is down for 14.00hrs on Sunday in Killoe Co. Longford.
