Lucky Number Seven for Ballyboden St. Endas

 

Ballyboden St. Endas senior ladies team have recorded
their 7th consecutive Dublin county title success thanks to a 2-14
to 1 6 defeat of Garda at a balmy Parnell Park on Friday night.
Amongst the spectators was Ms.Helen O Rourke, the chief executive
of the Ladies Gaelic Football Association.

The blue and while striped shirted Boden who are of course defending
Leinster and All Ireland Club champions as well took the lead in
the 3rd minute courtesy of a Natalia Hyland goal. They maintained
that lead right through to the end of the hour. Despite shooting
a total of 9 first half wides Boden led 2-4 to 1-2 at half time.
Sarah Denvir netting their second goal late in the half. She added
a point to her goal while Teresa Molohan with a brace and Martina
Farrell also found the range. The Garda goal was despatched from
the penalty spot on 26 mins by Sinead Coakley after she herself
had been fouled. That left only 2 points in it before the Sarah
Denvir goal left us with the half time gap of 5 points.

In the second half Boden Skipper and player of the match Louise
Kelly chipped in with 4 points to power her side to victory.

For the vanquished Garda team Michelle Stafford, Niamh Bonar and
Gillian Morris all played well. Earlier in the evening at the Donneycarney
venue scene for this years Suzuki Ladies National League Division
1 and 2 finals, Naomh Mearnog/St Sylvestors a combination of clubs
from Portmarnock and Malahide secured the intermediate County title.

They enjoyed a 1-14 to 1-8 win over Clontarf. Dublin star Sinead
Aherne was the main tormentor of Clontarf helping herself to a personal
tally of 1-8 of which 1-5 was from open play.
