Meath
take out their frustration on Longford

Leinster
Senior Championship
Meath v Longford Pairc Tailteann, Navan
Sunday May 22nd
Half time: Meath 4 – 11 Longford 0 – 03
Full time: Meath 6 – 23 Longford 0 – 03

Meaths championship finally got off the ground
on Sunday at Pairc Tailteann when they took all
their frustrations of the previous week out on
Longford. It was less than a minute into the game
when Grainne Nulty netted from close range. This
was to be the sign of things to come.

Meath went on a scoring spree with Ger Doherty,
Grainne Nulty and Gillian Bennett taking the Longford
defence apart. Ger Doherty bagged a personal tally
of 1 – 06 for the first half. Meaths superior
passing and speed were the difference between
the teams and Meath went into the break 4 – 11
to 0 – 03 ahead.

Meath started the second half where they left
off in the first half and Longford had no answer
to the Meath attack. One sour note to the win
was an injury to Katie McMahon who left the field
with a broken collar bone. Meath are heading into
the break now with renewed vigour.
