Monaghan and Cavan through to 40th All Ireland Final

Monaghan produced a great display to overcome Galway in a tight encounter at Kingspan Breffni Park. Monaghan were the hot favourites to progress to the TG4 All Ireland Final but they were a given a real test  by Galway.

So often it is Monaghan’s forwards that grab the headlines but on this occasion it was their defence that proved the difference as they repelled all the Galway attacks as the Tribes searched for a late goal.

Cavan will join Monaghan in Croke Park on September 29th as they reached the TG4 Intermediate Championship Final by overcoming Down in impressive fashion. Their forward line were able to score at will with a particularly impressive full forward trio of Sheridan, Doonan and Smith.

The other semi finals will take place next weekend in Thurles where Cork and Kerry meet in the senior and Fermanagh and Tipperary face each other in the Intermediate Semi Final
