Munster Announce New Full Time Development Officer

New Development Officer for Munster Ladies

This week Munster Ladies football announced the appointment of their Development Officer, Mary Beades. This appointment is one strand of a major plan to progress ladies football in the province over the coming three years. Mary Beades, a native of Roscommon but now living in Listowel, has previously held the position of Connacht Regional Games Development Officer for three years. Speaking at the announcement Dan O’Mahony, Munster Ladies President, welcomed the appointment and stressed the importance “of all strands of ladies football in Munster working together to ensure all those who wish to play the game get an equal and enjoyable opportunity to do so regardless of age or ability.” He said that “the appointment of a full time development officer is just the first step in achieving this goal and that Mary is available to assist any county, club, school or college that may request it”. Speaking at the Launch of the Munster Ladies Football 7’s tournament Mary outlined that her immediate role will be to assist counties develop and implement operational plans for the coming months. “ There is some fantastic work being undertaken by volunteers in all six counties and we want now to assist those counties to structure their work plans to ensure that all officers are utilised and are operating within specifically agreed roles and responsibilities. By doing this we hope that the sport can continue to grow and that our thousands of volunteers can enjoy their involvement with the sport and remain active in Ladies football for as long as possible.” At a national level Ladies Gaelic Football have just launched a 6 year strategic plan and Munster Ladies will be working to implement some of the key objectives of that plan to ensure the continued growth of the sport at every level.
