No surprises at Tyrone Convention

NO SUPRISES AT TYRONE CONVENTION

It was a case of as you were after the Tyrone
Ladies agm on Sunday at Omagh St Endas, the current
executive was returned unopposed with several
new faces also coming in to fill vacant roles.
Mary Connolly was returned as chairperson and
spoke of the year ahead with the hope that the
inter county senior squad would return to winning
ways again.

The fact that for the first time in many years
the Ulster senior final was without Tyrone was
a disappointment but overall the view of the reports
was positive with the fact that 16 clubs had shared
the twenty six titles played for showing the growth
of the ladies game in the County.

Once again a well attended convention discussed
various motions and byelaws with one of the hottest
topics centering on Under 12 activities, a proposal
to introduce a league format for U10 and U12 girls
by the St Macartans club was defeated in favour
of the blitz format, A decision to adopt extra
time in the underage championships with the exception
of finals was carried.

The need for the injury benefit scheme in the
ladies game to be reviewed also produced a lively
debate with the delegates deciding to put proposals
to congress to have a review and indeed changes
to the scheme as soon as possible taking into
consideration the cost involved to clubs, and
delegates were sent off to ascertain the views
of their respective clubs in relation to a top
four play off in senior and intermediate leagues.

The proposal by St Macartans would, its believed
also affect the relegation issues within the county,
Outgoing fixtures officer Paddy Donnelly who incidentally
was again returned to the role also pointed out
that the dates required for such a play-off system
may just not be available.

Moving on then to the executive and Mary Connolly
will again fill the Chairs role, Patsy McCrory
is vice chair, Theresa Kelly returns as secretary
with Leslie Murphy a new face in the assistants
role. Joe Lynch is treasurer with Anne Marie Meehan
in as assistant. Martina Dillon is again registrar
with Paddy Hunter the new press/media officer.
Eileen Jones will again be the cultural officer
Paddy Donnelly taking the role of fixtures officer
and doubling up as development officer. A new
role that of children’s officer was left vacant
until the next county board meeting.

Tickets meanwhile for the annual county dinner
which goes ahead on January 28th at Kelly’s Inn
are now on sale and will be available for all
clubs to collect on Monday 17th at the Charm Inn
Carrickmore, all clubs are asked to make a special
effort to attend.
