President honours Dublin Minor Captains

Geraldine Giles, President of the Ladies Gaelic
Football Association and Paul ‘Pillar’ Caffrey, Dublin Senior Football
Manager were Guests of Honour as Castleknock Community College celebrated
the achievements of two of its finest sporting talents.

The respective Dublin Minor Captains of 2006 graduated in a ceremony
held in the Castleknock Hotel & Country Club. Lorna Hillery
(Castleknock), Dublin Minor Captain, has represented her county
at all levels and is currently corner-forward on the Dublin Senior
Ladies Football Team. Lorna has already captained the Dublin Minors
to victory over Laois in the 2006 Leinster Minor Championship
Final – Dublin’s second consecutive Leinster Minor Championship
victory. A busy schedule lies ahead for Lorna as she will be aiming
to secure Dublin’s 5th consecutive Leinster Senior Championship
title this year.

Paddy is a bright and emerging talent on the Dublin scene. Paddy is
the talented younger brother of Dublin’s Star, Peadar Andrews. Specially
invited guests were present to mark this unique occasion for the Castleknock
Community College.

In attendance were Dublin Senior Football Manager, Paul ‘Pillar’
Caffrey who presented Paddy Andrews (St. Brigid’s) with his award.
Geraldine Giles, President of the Ladies Gaelic Football Association
was specially invited by the College to present Lorna Hillery (Castleknock),
with her achievement award.

Mr. Thomas J. O’Brien, Principal of Castleknock Community College
acknowledged the significance of this unique occasion for the College
and pointed to the attendance of both distinguished guests as a
tribute to the achievements of both Dublin Minor Captains. He hoped
their inspiration would motivate students to become similar role
models in the future and bring pride and distinction to the college
in the years ahead. We wish both Captains every succes in the remainder
of the season and in their upcoming Leaving Certificate examinations.
