St. Joseph's Foxford Participate in Successful TY Programme

St. Joe's

St. Joseph’s Secondary School Foxford in conjunction with the Ladies Gaelic Football Association held a very successful Ladies Football TY/AS Programme recently. In total 12 TY students participated in this very exciting two day programme.

Day one of the programme saw all participants develop their personal skills particularly in the areas of coaching and refereeing. In addition the students received event management training which assisted in creating links with the local Community. During this module students were provided with the necessary skills to organise an event for their local Primary School in Foxford on day 2.

Day two saw 49 students from the local Primary School travel to St.Josephs Secondary School Foxford to participate in the very successful event day. The day saw everyone get an opportunity to experience ladies football in a safe and fun environment.

As a result of participating in this programme all students have gained lifelong skills transferable to many aspects of academic and social situations both inside and outside the school. In addition the school was provided with the opportunity to secure sustainable links with the Local Primary Schools and Sports clubs in the catchment area.

This is a programme we certainly will be getting involved in again next year!
