Tyrone Intermediate Club Championship Preview

Tyrone Intermediate Club Championship Preview

This Saturday night will be a big test for both Fr Rocks
and Glenelly ladies as they compete for the Tommy Mc Garvey
intermediate championship trophy in the 2003 final. This
final to be held in Augher @ 6.30pm.

Glenelly were promoted to intermediate this year after doing
the double in 2002 in the juniors. They are a team that
are progressing in skill in each game and with County star
Ann Dooher and her sister Carol along with Fiona Maire Kearney
are the main players to watch out for.

Alternatively Fr Rocks are strong and determined to add
another intermediate championship to their collections having
won this competition in 1999. Big performances from county
players Martina Glackin, Martina Doyle and Natasha Rushe
along with the Monaghan sisters will be needed in order
to keep the Glenelly girls taking control of the game.

In the semi-final stages Fr Rocks took on Trillick in atrocious
weather conditions. This game could have went either way
but Fr Rocks backline had to work immensely hard to prevent
Trillick forwards from scoring and the Rocks came out ahead
by 4points.

Glenelly played Kildress in the semi final. Everyone expected
Kildress to come out on top but with the determination of
the Glenelly girls working extremely hard as a team they
came out on top and beat favourites Kildress 4-12 to 2-12.

This game will no doubt be a close encounter, Glenelly will
attempt to make their mark in the Tyrone intermediate club
scene while Fr Rocks will see it as their stepping stone
to return to division one status.
