Venue Change for Dublin v Monaghan

Monaghan v Dublin - Tesco HomeGrown Ladies Football National League Division 1

The much anticipated meeting of Dublin and Monaghan will now take place in Lannleire GAA grounds in Dunleer, County Louth. This match will be one of the fascinating clashes taking place in the TESCO Homegrown National Football League semi finals weekend.

Dublin will be hoping to maintain the form that saw them come through the league campaign without defeat and show only 1 change to their settled starting XV with Margaret Mohan coming in for the injured Siobhan Woods. Sinead Goldrick captains the team from right half back where she is likely to pick up Monaghan’s star attacker, Caoimhe Mohan. Siobhan McGrath starts on the opposite side of what is a strong defensive unit. Sarah McCaffrey and Sinead Finnegan continue their midfield partnership whilst much will be expected of an attacking unit that boasts the likes of Carla Rowe, Noelle Healy, Sinead Aherne and Lyndsey Davey who has been in real goalscoring form of late.

Monaghan boast a starting XV that is loaded with experience including the likes of Linda Martin, Christina Reilly, Grainne McNally and captain, Sharon Courtney. Amanda Casey and Yvonne Connell will form a strong midfield partnership with Cora Courtney acting as the playmaker in the forwards. Niamh Kindlon has rediscovered her old form as she has been a revelation in the league to date and much will depend on the All Star battle between Caoimhe Mohan and Sinead Goldrick with the winner of that match up likely to shade the match.

Dublin: Hannah Tyrell, Dee Murphy, Rachel Ruddy, Leah McCaffrey, Sinead Goldrick (c), Sorcha Furlong, Siobhan McGrath, Sarah McCaffrey, Sinead Finnegan, Noelle Healy, Niamh McEvoy, Carla Rowe, Lyndsey Davey, Sinead Aherne, Margaret Mohan.

Monaghan: Linda Martin, Christina O’Reilly, Charlette Brady, Joanne Geoghegan, Grainne McNally, Sharon Courtney, Aoife McAnespie, Amanda Casey, Yvonne Connell, Caoimhe Mohan, Eileen McElroy, Cora Courtney, Laura Boylan, Ellen McCarron, Niamh Kindlon.

The other Division 1 Final features the meeting of great old rivals Cork and Kerry. Much has been made of the struggles of the defending champions to reach the last 4 in the absence of retired duo of Juliet Murphy and Elaine Harte and with uncertainty surrounding the future of Nollaig Cleary. However, Cork have plenty of class players in their ranks at the back they can look to the like of Angela Walsh, Brid Stack, Ann Marie Walsh and Geraldine O’Flynn whilst in midfield they have 2 multi All Star winner in Rena Buckley and Briege Corkery. Much will depend on the performance of marquee forward, Valerie Mulcahy who is still the source of the vast majority of scores for the Rebellettes. The likes of the O’Sullivan sisters and Orla Finn will want to get in on the scoring act this weekend. Kerry are the form team in the country right now having won all but one of their matches en route to topping the Division 1 table. Kerry now have real strength in depth with the likes of Edel Murphy, Patrice Dennehy, Lorraine Scanlon, Aoife Lyons and Caroline Kelly all on the subs bench. Aislinn Desmond will resume her great rivalry with Valerie Mulcahy with Cait Lynch moving to centre half back. Emma Sherwood and Bernie Breen comprise a very strong midfield partnership whilst the likes of Louise Galvin, Sarah Houlihan and Louise Ni Muircheartaigh will be the players that Kerry will look to for their scores.

Kerry: Amanda Brosnan, Julie Brosnan, Aislinn Desmond, Gina Crowley, Maria Quirke, Cáit Lynch, Denise Hallissey, Emma Sherwood, Bernie Breen, Sarah Jane Joy, Deridre Corridan, Louise Galvin, Sarah Houlihan, Debra Murphy, Louise Ní Muicheartaigh.

Cork: Martina O’Brien, Roisin Phelan, Angela Walsh, Brid Stack, Vera Foley, Ann Marie Walsh, Geraldine O’Flynn, Rena Buckley, Briege Corkery (c), Annie Walsh, Doireann O’Sullivan, Ciara O’Sullivan, Orlagh Farmer, Valerie Mulcahy, Orla Finn.
