Regional Feile is Huge Success

Regional Feile took place around the country today and the teams displayed exceptional skill and sportsmanship throughout the day. There certainly were many stars of the future on display.

The venues used for ladies football today were Mountmellick (Laois), Raheens and Allenwood (Kildare) and Abbotstown in Dublin. We want to thank all clubs involved and also the GAA for use of Abbottstown as the facilities at all venues were of the highest class and added to a great day for everyone involved.

In Kildare there were two separate venues and it was Corofin from the Raheens venue that progressed to meet Aherlow from the Allenwood venue in the final which was played in St Conleth’s Park, Newbridge. Corofin proved just too strong winning on a scoreline of 3-4 to 2-2.

In Mountmellick the title would head south as Inch Rovers emerged from group 2 to meet Kilmoremoy but goals proved the difference as they were victorious on a scoreline of 4-4 to 0-4.

The final venue for this year’s Regional Feile was Abbotstown in Dublin and once again it was hard battle through the group stages but the final would see Rockbán from Cork take on St Brigid’s from Dublin. This was an unbelievable game and even after extra time the scores remained level at 2-3 each. The game was to be decided on free kicks but before a kick would be taken both teams agreed that there would be two winners on the day and they would share the winners shield for 6 months each. St Brigid’s headed home with the shield to the clubhouse but Rockbán will return to the Dublin in 6 months to visit the club and get handed over the shield to return to Cork where St Brigid’s will then travel down to Cork to play a friendly. It was an amazing gesture by both teams and fitting end to great day of football at all venues for Regional Feile.
