Sligo Ladies Notes 27th May 2013

The U14’s just can’t stop winning!!!  The team and their management were entered into an All Ireland Blitz in Kinnegad last week end and they overcame teams like Fermanagh, Longford, & Down in their group stages and opponents in the Final were Louth a strong team that really made Sligo work for the win but the girls held on to win by 1 point and were crowned All Ireland Champions.   The last time Sligo won an All Ireland U14 blitz was in 2000. Ted Maloney was manager then too so it was a delight for him to be part of 2 winning All Ireland blitz titles for the county at U14 level.  The U14’s continue seeking All Ireland success when they meet Waterford in the All Ireland Semi – Final on the 8th June. (Time and venue to be confirmed)  Best of Luck to everyone involved.

The County Board are organising a fundamentals course with a date agreed for Saturday 8th June.  (Time and venue to be confirmed).  This is an all day Ladies Gaelic training course to help players, parents and mentors who might like to get involved in management or training at some stage. It is open to members male or female over the age of 16yrs.  To reserve a place please send your contact details your club secretary who will forward on the numbers to the board.

The 31st of May is fast approaching and this date is important because it is the last date players are covered but the association unless they have paid registration for the 2013 season. Clubs are asked to do a check on all their teams/players and make sure there are no outstanding registrations due.  It takes at least 8 working days to register a player so make sure your players and club are protected.  Do not take any chances by playing an unregistered player.
