Sligo Notes 28.01.2013

The Connacht Post Primary Schools Elite Star Awards were held in Castlebar and once again Sligo players were well represented.  Sligo had 8 girls nominated from around the county with 5 being successful in receiving Elite Star awards.  The girls who received nominations were Lorraine O’Reilly (Coola PP), Lauren Boles (Ursuline College), Grainne O’Loughlin (Coola PP), Shaunagh Brady (Ursuline College), Orla Colemen (St Attracta’s C.S), Grainne Carty (St Attracta’s C.S), Tara Doddy (St Attracta’s C.S), and Kathleen Coleman (St Attracta’s C.S).

The Elite Star girls went on to represent Connacht in the Inter provincial Tournament on Saturday last in Kinnegad.  They succeeded in reaching the Cup final but were defeated by the Munster team.  Well done girls!!

 

The following positions remain unfilled within the Sligo County Board, a Secretary, Registrar, County U16, U12 and Minor Managers.  If you are interested in any of these areas please contact the Chairperson Louise Lavin on 0872555963.

 

On behalf of the County Board we want to sincerely thank everyone who supported our recent fundraising events they were a great success and we are grateful for your support and generosity.  We also wish to acknowledge the organizing committee guided by Etna Flanagan a great degree of work was put into each event and we thank them for their help and commitment.

 

The Ladies National League Football League is getting underway and Sligo is entered into Division 3 with their first game against Longford on Sunday the 3rd of February @ 2pm in Sligo IT.  This is a home game for Sligo and your support would be much appreciated to encourage them on in their first game and get them off to a good start. Round 2 is against Down another home game on the 10th February @ 2pm (Venue to be confirmed).  Best of luck to the Team and management.
