St Nathys Notes: 23rd June 2013

Gaelic 4 Mothers and Others are well under way in St. Nathys.  Training continues Thursdays at 7.30pm with new players always welcome.  There is a blitz being hosted by Connacht on Saturday 6th July in the centre of excellence, Ballyhaunis.

The U8’s and U10’s have a blitz coming up in Curry on the 29th June.  Team registration starts at 10am with games kicking off at 10.30am.  All players are asked to let Louise know if they can attend. (0876356679)

The senior team entered a Connacht 7’s blitz recently and were narrowly beaten in the shield final by Castlebar Mitchels.  Well done to all the girls involved it was a tough day’s work and no doubt they will learn from the experience.  The U12’s were also involved in a Blitz in early June and with the sun shining on them they had a great day out.

As League season is approaching a close the seniors are the first group to make a 2013 final against Geevagh, due to a series of bad weather and exams the date for the final was postponed and has yet to be re-scheduled. With one game to go the U16’s are hopeful of a place in the Final. This game is against St. Marys and due to exams a date agreeable to both clubs has yet to be set.   Best of luck to all teams involved in their respective Finals.

The clubs wishes to extend congratulations to the Sligo U14 team who were recently defeated by Waterford in the All Ireland Semi Final.  This team has a Connacht championship and an All Ireland Blitz title under their belt for 2013 and St. Nathys Players Mary Ann O’Kennedy and Katie Reynolds played a vital role in the teams achievements.  Tracy O’Kennedy was part of the Management team that helped encourage and developed this group of girls. Well done to all involved.

Congratulations to the Sligo Ladies team on their first victory of the 2013 championship against Leitrim on Sunday last.  St. Nathys girls representing their County, Etna Flanagan (Captain), Noelle Gormley, Aine Gormley, Grainne McDonagh, Tara Doddy & Ann-marie Coleman.
