Stabannon Ladies Minors happy to clinch win

Stabannon
4-5
Roche Emmets 3-5

Stabannon Ladies sealed their second win in the Under
18 Championship which is being run on a league basis when
they beat Roche Emmets on Sunday last in Roche.

It
was Roche who got off to the stronger start and within
minutes were a goal ahead. Roseana Heaney was dominating
midfield for Roche Emmets and they scored another two
points without reply from Stabannon. However it wasn’t
long before the experience of captain Anne-Marie Lynch,
Jenny McGuinness and Michele McArdle from Stabannon had
an effect on this game. Stabannon stepped up the pace
and for the first half it was a case of point for point
and goal for goal with both teams. Stabannon’s Rebecca
Woods scored a total of two goals and point in the first
half and Jenny McGuinness scored a point. However, Stabannon
trailed by three points at half time.

Roche
again got off to the better start in the second half with
a goal putting them further ahead. Again Stabannon dug
deep and found scores coming from Jenny McGuinness, Michele
McArdle and Rebecca Woods. This game was a closely contested
game with both sides giving it their best, this game proving
to be up there with one of the best games in this competition
to date. It was on all round team performance from Stabannon
with all players performing well during the entire game.
