Tallaght's own "Gem" - A jewel in the crown

Tallaght’s
own Gem’ – a jewel in the Dublin crown

By William O’Connor, The Echo

TALLAGHT’S Gemma Fay has certainly played
a big role in Dublin’s success over the past
few years. The Ballyboden St Enda’s half back
has been in flying form this season, picking
up the ‘Player of the Match’ Award in the
Leinster Final in July.

Having played in the All-Ireland decider last
year, Gemma can’t wait for Sunday’s final.
“I’m really looking forward to the game,”
Gemma told The Echo. “Galway are a very young
team. We played them in the league this year
and they beat us … but we have improved
a lot since then. Training has gone great
and it has shown in our performances when
the games have been close. “We are a more
experienced side this year. A few younger
players have been introduced into the team
which has been a big boost. “John O’Leary
has come on board as manager and he has also
brought in a few fresh ideas which has been
a big help,” she concluded.
