Tesco All Ireland Junior Club Championship Report

Caltra Cuans 0-07

St Endas 0-07

On Saturday we watched Caltra Cuans of Galway take on St Endas of Tyrone.

The first half saw St Endas going in at half time 3 points ahead and looking the stronger of the 2 Clubs, but the second half

was a different story. Caltra Cuans came out fighting and broke the defence of St Endas, putting over some great scores, to bring them within a point of St Endas.

Then with only Minutes on the clock Áine Mannion was one on one with the goalie, and everyone thought the game was over, and this would be the winner for Caltra Cuans. Not to Be however as she was denied by the superb goalkeeping of Colleen McCullagh(St Endas), who put her whole body on the line, and Áine put the ball wide of the right post.

St Endas then went up the other end of the field and won a free kick. The pressure was on the free taker – if it went over it would put them 1 point up with only seconds remaining on the clock.

All hands were on heads in the crowds, then the stand erupted with cheers of joy from the St Endas supporters as the score was now 0-7 point to 0-06. However Caltra Cuans were not finished yet,

From the kick out the ball landed to their number 6 Sarah Noone who worked the ball down the centre of the pitch and finished off the run by popping the ball over the bar, to level the game.

Final Score; Caltra Cuans 0-07, St Enda’s 0-07.

Next weekend we call all supporters to come to Mullahoran once again, to support the ladies in their quest to earn the title of ‘Tesco All Ireland Junior Club Champions’.
