Tremendous All-Ireland Minor win for Cork.

Having won the the last 4 under 14 titles in a row and the
All-Ireland under 16 title last year. Cork added the Minor
title to their growling list of honours. Forced to line
out without 3 of their star forwards Breige Briege and Catriona
Foley who were not released by the camogie selectors and
Kareina Richards who was on International Soccer duty in
Macedonia, they had to come from behind to defeat a gallant
Mayo team in a pulsating final at Birr on Saturday last.

Mayo led by 2–2 to 0-5 at the break but an exibition of
point scoring from Marie O’Neill and Geraldine O’Flynn who
score 11 between them and a vital goal from Laura Power,
saw Cork edge home on a score line of 1-15 to 3-5. After
5 final defeats Gabriel Rangers from Skull captured the
Co Junior title on Sunday evening in miserably wet conditions
at Ovens. They led 0-7 to 0-4 over Kildorrery at the break
and ran out comfortable winners on a score line of 3-10
to 1-5

There will be historic first for ladies football in Cork
when Senior Champions Donoughmore take on last years beaten
finalists Rockban in this years Powers Consultancy Senior
Semi Final. The game is being played under lights this Wednesday
at Pairc ui Rinn at 7.30pm
