26 August 2016 Tyrone Announce 'Team of 25' Share this Article 0 0 0 Shares! 0 Shares! “TEAM OF 25” The Tyrone ladies GFA will celebrate twenty five years since it’s formation in the coming weeks with a series of events planned around this year’s adult Patrick Fahy and Co Solicitors sponsored championship finals. The senior and junior football finals will be played at Killyclogher on September 10th with the Intermediate final the following week. To mark the silver jubilee two special teams will be special guests on September 10th . The first winners of the Tyrone senior championship, An Charraig Mhor will be presented to the crowd at half time in the senior final between Killeeshil and St Macartans. They will receive a specially commissioned memento to mark the occasion. The second team to be unveiled will certainly be one that will have hopefully raised plenty of debate in the build up to it’s selection. The “Team of 25” will be a representative team of Tyrone’s inter county senior teams through the decades and will be selected by the help of the public and by a vastly experienced selection panel. Tyrone’s first competitive game was actually on April 7th 1992 and through the years they have enjoyed ups and downs…but have always competed. Players from those formative year’s, the likes of Hayley Boyle, Joanne Poyntz, Kitty McGoldrick through Eilish Gormley, Michaela Doherty and Nicola Scott, Nuala McCartan, Lynda Donnelly, Lisa McGirr and Arlene McCloskey will all be in the mix with some familiar names from the past decade, Lynette Hughes, Cathy Donnelly, Sinead McLaughlin, Neamh Woods and Gemma Begley. What a headache the selection panel and the public will have. The selected 15 will be introduced to the crowd between the double bill at Killyclogher with special guests, President of the Ladies GFA Marie Hickey and Ulster President Michael Naughton doing the presentations of special mementos to mark their selection. Any follower of the ladies game is very welcome to select their “Team of 25” by going to the Tyrone Ladies GFA facebook page and posting on the Team of 25 link. “Hopefully It will raise plenty of discussion” quipped Tyrone Ladies Chair Martin Conway. Details of other events around finals days and the silver anniversary will be confirmed shortly. Share this Article 0 0
