Ulster TG4 Championship Super Saturday

Tomorrow is the most important date in the Ulster playing calendar so far this year with both TG4 senior semi final deciders to be played.

First up is the very interesting meeting of Tyrone and Donegal in Brewster Park at 2-30pm. last season Tyrone reached the All Ireland final while Donegal won the intermediate title. Both sides have changed their managers and the game has the potential to be one of the seasons best.

Donegal have lost three players to the USA however they have retained the majority of their very potent forward line. Tyrone’s new management has introduced some fresh faces from 2010 but their four All Stars are all available for selection. When the sides met in the national league they served up an eight goal thriller which Donegal edged. Tomorrows game should be just as exciting but at this stage its far too close to call.

In the second semi final holders Monaghan take on Down in the Morgan Athletic Grounds at 7-30pm. Monaghan go into the game on the back of a 24 point victory over Armagh however they must do without star forward Cathriona Mc Connell who has headed States side. Down are a team in transition at the moment. They play in Division 3 and have yet to win an Ulster senior championship game. A win tomorrow is a big ask of Mark Coepland’s side and if they did it would be a major upset.

Also taking place tomorrow (Morgan Athletic Grounds 5-30pm) is the intermediate clash between Antrim and Fermanagh. Antrim lost to Cavan a fortnight ago however the Saffron have a second bite at the cherry against a Fermanagh team who have only lost one game all year.
