The Senior county panelists of Monaghan, Mayo and Galway joined forces last weekend as players from all 3 counties made the famous climb up the slopes of Croagh Patrick to raise money for the Climb4Clare. However, one of the climbers went above and beyond the call to ensure that not only did she do the climb but she also did it after helping her club to County Final glory. 2 time All Star, Annette Clarke, played as captain for her club Kilkerrin/Clonberne in the replay of the Galway county final and led her club to victory over Corofin on a scoreline of 0-11 to 1-03. However, the replay clashed with the event that had been organised to raise funds for the Climb4Clare initiative. Players from Galway, Monaghan and Mayo met on Saturday and made the trek up to the summit of the famous mountain but they did so without Annette. However, Annette was determined that she would not lot her county colleagues down and she took to the slopes on her own at 4:30 am in the morning to ensure that anyone that had donated funds to Climb on her behalf would not be let down. Well done to Annette on the dedication that she showed to both the club and the charity and to all of the players from all 3 counties who did so much to raise funds for this vital cause. At the TG4 All Ireland Finals the LGFA and the Irish Cancer Society announced that they would come together to raise money for the roll out of the CLIMB® Services at Cancer Centres across Ireland.

The joint fundraising initiative was launched at the TG4 All Ireland Final and has already begun to generate great interest from Ladies Gaelic members and from the general public.
